With a heavy heart I recently about the recent school shooting in Nigeria. Islamic militants murdered 22 students, injured 4 and the perpetrators set the school on fire. What a horrible, senseless crime. An act of unthinkable evil- it reminds me of the school shooting in Newton, CT last December.
It is important to note that Nigeria has much stricter gun control laws than the United States- not only is gun registration required for all civilians in Nigeria- they also are prohibited from owning:
- Semi-automatic “A-Words“
- Ammunition not specified in the owner's government-issued permit, which is required for firearm ownership (excluding the firearms noted above)
How could this happen when such strict gun control laws are in place? Evil exists in the world. It is not possible to legislate morality- not in Nigeria nor in the US. Don't be fooled into thinking that more gun control laws are the answer.
